MEET PCMN! A SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR MY CHILDREN’S HOUSE OF HOPE

MMP is proud to partner with the Philippine Children’s Mission Network (PCMN), where Dr. Chonabelle M. Domingo serves as a Board of Trustees member. As PCMN celebrates its 28th anniversary on November 19, 2026, under the theme “Family Strengthening: Together for Children,” MMP partner My Children’s House of Hope will feature its book, Huwag Magsikreto. This opportunity promotes collaboration in strengthening families, protecting children from abuse and exploitation, and building safer communities for every child.

Together, let us be a voice for children, a source of hope for families, and a partner in protecting every child!

MEETING WITH STEP 1 INTERNATIONAL

MMP met with Step 1 International, a nonprofit organization committed to providing education and training opportunities to disadvantaged children and supporting long-term community transformation.

As part of the visit, MMP brought the Step 1 International team to two partner schools—AGBN Learning Center and Kaingin Baptist Learning Center—where their staff interviewed teachers, observed the learning environment, and interacted with the students.

The visit gave Step 1 International a firsthand look at MMP’s work among vulnerable children. MMP looks forward to exploring a formal partnership that can expand educational opportunities and contribute to the transformation of children and communities.

“As we close this month’s Gazette, we look ahead with grateful hearts, renewed faith, and hope for what God will continue to do through MMP.”

Welcoming a New Faculty Member to MMP’s Certificate Course (August 22-29, 2026) – Curriculum in Early Childhood Education

MMP is pleased to officially welcome Ma’am Evelyn Naval, Administrator of the Optimus Center for Development, as one of the newest faculty members of MMP’s Certificate Course in Early Childhood Education.

Ma’am Evelyn facilitated the course “Curriculum in Early Childhood Education (ECE)”, held on August 22 and 29, 2026. As part of her presentation, she also highlighted the distinctive features of MMP’s curriculum and its application in early childhood settings.

MMP currently has 8 student teachers officially enrolled in the course. We are grateful to Ma’am Evelyn for sharing her knowledge, experience, and passion for quality early childhood education with our learners.

ONGOING…

At MMP, the journey continues through meaningful discussions, continuous training, new beginnings, and a lasting legacy. Each conversation opens new possibilities, each training equips and empowers, and each relationship creates an impact that reaches the next generation.

ONGOING TRAINING

MMP held its first Refresher Course on August 15, 2026, focusing on “Assessment in Early Childhood Education: Learning Through Observations, Portfolios, and Learning Stories.”

The training introduced practical and developmentally appropriate approaches to assessing young children’s learning and development through observation, portfolios, and learning stories. It was facilitated by Prof. Elizabeth Anne King-Santos and attended by 87 participants.

This refresher course provided early childhood educators with practical tools and strategies to better understand, document, and support each child’s learning journey.

ONGOING DISCUSSION

On August 25, 2026, MMP met with I-Syoot, a multimedia production and communications company specializing in advocacy, documentary storytelling, and strategic campaigns. The meeting was part of ongoing discussions toward a possible joint initiative to address the continuing challenge of reading literacy in the Philippines.

While the PISA 2025 results showed a 20-point improvement in the Philippines’ reading performance from 2022, significant gaps remain, with only 31% of Filipino 15-year-olds reaching minimum Level 2 reading proficiency. The discussions explored how MMP’s experience in ECE and literacy development, together with iSyoot’s communication and advocacy expertise, could help promote reading among vulnerable and underserved children.

ONGOING LEGACY

Another testimony of how MMP’s training impacts lives across generations. Teacher Kay is the daughter of one of MMP’s partner-school teachers. Her mother is now serving in missions in another country.

Kay and her sister came to MMP to explore ways of partnering with us through their new church, where they are planning to establish an Early Childhood Program in a non-formal setting, known as a School Readiness Program.

And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.
2 Timothy 2:2 NIV

It is truly encouraging to see how the training received by one generation can inspire and equip the next to continue the ministry.

THE 4 R’s OF MMP’S JOURNEY

Reconnecting • Reaching • Realizing • Rejoicing
Celebrating God’s faithfulness in every step of the journey

RECONNECTING…

Meeting with World Vision

On July 13, 2026, MMP met with World Vision Development Foundation (WVDF), to explore the renewal of their partnership, particularly through the purchase and use of MMP’s Early Childhood Education (ECE) books and learning materials. WVDF has been a valued MMP partner since 2017. MMP is grateful for the opportunity to once again extend its developmentally appropriate and values-based ECE resources to vulnerable and underserved children through WVDF’s programs.

Foursquare Church

Truly, investing in teachers is investing in the future. Wherever teachers go, they carry with them the knowledge, values, and training they have received—and the impact can continue from one generation to another. This is what happened with Teacher Ester Tiborio, one of our pioneer teachers from Foursquare Church. MMP started a Precshool among Foursquare churches in year 2024. She is was one of those who received MMP training. Today, she has returned with a vision to establish her own school ministry—not only as a teacher but also as a pastor. Truly, we can never fully measure the impact of the training we give to teachers. The seeds we plant today can bear fruit in ways we may never see. The legacy goes on and on. As she herself shared, “Di ko pa rin malilimutan ang training ninyo sa akin.” (I will never forget the training you gave me.)

REACHING ACROSS…

Good Shepherd Montessori of Pasig

Good Shepherd Montessori of Pasig – MMP was visited by a Chinese couple from Good Shepherd Montessori to explore a possible partnership. We were later invited to visit their centers in Antipolo and Tagaytay. We continue to pray for God’s guidance as we explore this partnership.

REALIZATION….

Certificate Course in Early Childhood Education

July 18 and Aug. 1 – Certificate Course in Early Childhood Education – MMP had a very successful session on “Philosophical Foundations of Early Childhood Education,” one of the core modules in its Certificate Course in Early childhood Education Program. The session was attended by a student from Indonesia, who shared this encouraging testimony: “Every Saturday, I am so excited to attend classes because I am learning a lot!” Her enthusiasm reminds us of the value of equipping teachers through quality training that can impact children and communities beyond borders.

From Homeschooling Mom to Educational Visionary (Ms. Marie Fe Setiawan’s Testimony: MMP ECE Student from Indonesia)

“My journey began at home as a homeschooling mother. Through homeschooling, Sunday School ministry, and later my experience with Mission Ministries Philippines (MMP), I discovered a deep passion for nurturing children and creating meaningful learning experiences.

When homeschooling ended, I sensed God leading me toward a new calling—to create a preschool where children can grow not only academically, but also in wisdom, character, creativity, compassion, and responsibility.

MMP helped me connect my experiences as a mother, teacher, and ministry leader with child-centered and relationship-based approaches to education. My Christian faith remains the foundation of my vision, inspired by Romans 12:2.

Thank you, MMP, for being part of this journey and helping turn my mother’s dream into a growing educational vision.”

What began as a mother’s dream has grown into a calling to nurture many children—to create a place where they are known, valued, encouraged to think and create, taught to care for others, and guided toward what is good.”

Today, the school is joyfully nurturing its sixth batch of preschoolers. Looking back, she gratefully shares, “This partnership was one of my greatest answered prayers,” adding that “MMP provided step-by-step guidance to turn this vision into reality.” Her testimony is a beautiful reminder that when God gives a vision, He also provides faithful partners to accomplish His work.

Growing as a Teacher, Serving as a Minister

Teacher Melvin Credo, a preschool teacher at Jubilant Youngster Academy, Inc. and a student in MMP’s Certificate Course in Early Childhood Education, shares how the program transformed both his teaching and his calling. Through the course, he gained practical skills in understanding children’s individual needs, using positive guidance, and partnering effectively with parents. More importantly, he came to embrace teaching as a ministry, saying, “Teaching is not just a profession—it is a ministry. Every child entrusted to my care is a precious gift from God.” His testimony reflects a renewed commitment to nurture every child with Christ-like love, compassion, and excellence.

Celebrating Faithful Partnerships

On May 22, 2026, MMP was blessed by a surprise visit from longtime ministry partner Teacher Dorrie Ferrer, who traveled from Canada. The fellowship was a joyful opportunity to reflect on God’s faithfulness throughout their years of partnership.

The following week, the MMP team visited Simple Child School and was encouraged to see its continued commitment to Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP). The visit also opened the possibility of the school becoming a practicum site for students enrolled in MMP’s Certificate Course in Early Childhood Education.

Featured in this issue is the testimony of Teacher Dorrie Ferrer, Owner and Administrator of Simple Child School in Bagong Silang, Quezon City. As an MMP ministry partner for 26 years, she shares how God has used MMP’s training and partnership to strengthen both her school and her ministry.

A Testimony of God’s Faithfulness Through Simple Child

Our journey began in the year 2000 with the establishment of the Child to Child Development Center. At that time, there were only two teachers—including myself—but God had already prepared the way. Through the leadership of Mission Ministries Philippines under Teacher Chonabelle Domingo and the support of Servants Philippines through Dr. Jo Ward, this ministry became a reality.

Starting a ministry for children was never easy. We had no budget to build a learning center or school. Yet, God faithfully provided, using many people as His instruments to supply what we lacked.

From the beginning, we faced numerous challenges and hardships. Despite these difficulties, we never gave up because we believed that the Lord, who called us to this ministry, would never abandon us. We knew that this work was not for ourselves but for His glory.

We started with only thirty children whose parents entrusted them to our care. The knowledge and skills we shared came from a free three-day Early Childhood Education training provided by Mission Ministries Philippines as part of our partnership. One of our greatest challenges was introducing a different approach to education—one that was unfamiliar to the families in our community. We worked tirelessly to help parents understand the value of developmentally appropriate, Christ-centered education. Although we encountered criticism and discouraging comments, we remained steadfast because we knew God had called us to this work.

There were seasons when unexpected trials tested our commitment. At times, I wondered whether we could continue. Yet, instead of becoming reasons to quit, those challenges strengthened my resolve to keep the ministry alive for the children in our community.

Later, when the Department of Education required all schools to become legally registered, God once again provided faithful people who helped us meet every requirement. During this process, our school was officially renamed Simple Child. Looking back, if the decision had depended solely on my own strength, I might have closed the school during those difficult years. But God continually renewed my strength and always made a way for the ministry to move forward.

For the past twenty-six years, we have witnessed God’s unwavering faithfulness. Through every struggle and every victory, He has remained with us. Today, we rejoice as we see the fruit of His work. Many of the children who once sat in our classrooms have grown into mature followers of Christ. Some are now serving in their churches, teaching God’s Word, and faithfully ministering to others. Seeing their lives transformed reminds us that every sacrifice has been worthwhile.

Our mission remains the same: to disciple and educate children, helping them know Christ and develop the gifts God has entrusted to them. This is the calling He has given us, and by His grace, we will continue to fulfill it. The words of Jesus in Mark 10:13–16 continue to guide and inspire our ministry:

“Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And He took the children in His arms, placed His hands on them, and blessed them.

Simple Child is not our ministry—it is God’s ministry. It exists so that every child who enters our doors may experience His love, care, and guidance. Our prayer is that each child will grow up knowing they are deeply loved, treasured, and created with a purpose by God, and that they, too, will one day become faithful servants who will make Christ known to the next generation.
